$205,000 Announced for Conservation Halton in their efforts to support the Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan
Adam along with Minister Gould (Burlington), MP Damoff (Oakville-North Burlington), and MP Bratania (Hamilton East-Stoney Creek), announced $205,000 in federal funding for Conservation Halton in their efforts to support the Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan (HHRAP).
The HHRAP, works to keep the Hamilton Harbour clean and delist it as an area of environmental concern. Beginning in 1992, the HHRAP works with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal levels of government as well as local organizations to achieve clean-up measures collaboratively.
For Adam, βthe work Conservation Halton does, ensures that my neighbours in Milton will be able to enjoy all the natural wonders of the Halton region for years to come. Through the HHRAP, Conservation Halton is addressing the decline of the local ecosystem health and doing significant work to correct the problems identified. The strength of this plan is the extensive public consultations that have been done, bringing in the larger community to participate in this excellent project.β
The HHRAP is in part made possible through funding from Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the City of Hamilton, the City of Burlington and Halton, who began the action plan through two key groups. The Bay Area Implementation Team (BAIT), comprised of government, industry and community partners, oversee the implementation of the action plan, while the Bay Area Restoration Council (BARC) a community non-profit organization representing the public interest in the restoration of the Harbour, oversee the promotion, monitoring and results of the action plan.
